A set of 4 American-style placemats made from wood reclaimed from the waters of Venice, celebrating the four iconic bridges of the Grand Canal.
The Canal Grande placemats are laser-cut, each inspired by a different bridge and featuring an integrated napkin holder design: the Constitution Bridge, Scalzi Bridge, Rialto Bridge, and the wooden Accademia Bridge.

Material: Reclaimed Briccola Oak, with eco-leather backing

Elia Venturini

The Grand Canal placemats are a set of four small placemats that make it easy and quick to set your table. They protect the table surface from scratches, heat, and stains—providing a hygienic barrier between your table and the dishes, cutlery, and glasses—and, of course, they enhance the beauty of your table!
Crafted from briccola wood reclaimed from the Venetian lagoon, these placemats are treated with an innovative technology that makes them flexible and lightweight.
The Grand Canal placemats are laser-cut, each in the shape of a different bridge, inspired by the famous four that span this iconic waterway, featuring an integrated napkin holder!

More about the designer

Grand Canal

When Elia presented his project dedicated to the Constitution, Scalzi, Rialto, and Accademia bridges, we immediately settled on the name: Grand Canal, the main waterway with its distinctive reverse S-shape, which divides and defines our cherished Venice, becoming even more magical at night when the palaces and churches reflect elegantly in the water.
The Grand Canal is the main thoroughfare of Venice, a serpentine waterway flanked by ancient palaces bearing witness to centuries of art and commerce.
The beating heart of the city, hosts gondolas, steamers, and a play of light and shadow that unveils Venice’s truest essence.

Products with Stories

These objects also serve as a bridge between past and future generations, telling a story of Venetian culture, tradition, and excellence.

Circular Economy

Pieces of Venice is a social enterprise with a circular economy model and a short supply chain. We begin with the recovery and recycling of discarded materials from Venice, and through industrial design, we give them new life as souvenirs and practical items.

Alberto Toso Fei narrates...

The Grand Canal of Venice is the most beautiful street in the world.
Following the happy definition by Philippe de Commynes, the first French ambassador, in 1495 in his very first dispatch.
A three-and-a-half-kilometer reverse S-shape, lined with Venice’s grandest and most prestigious palaces.
A thousand palaces and four bridges.
The Renaissance Rialto Bridge, which replaced two medieval wooden bridges; and the Scalzi and Accademia bridges, were built in the 19th century and rebuilt in the 1930s. The most recent addition is the Constitution Bridge, opened in 2008, connecting the car terminal to the train station.
