The least democratic but no less iconic vessel of the fleet, this piece is the epitome of Venice’s dolce vita. An essential presence at glamorous events and galas, it’s also a nimble means of reaching the remotest nooks and crannies of the city of Venice and its lagoon. Sinuous and vibrant in its simplicity, tactile, and pleasing to the touch, it becomes the unrivaled decorative addition to your home’s furnishings.

Material: Briccola oak

Marco Zito

“Small sculptures, pleasant to touch and smell, float on our tables”.

Products with Stories

These objects also serve as a bridge between past and future generations, telling a story of Venetian culture, tradition, and excellence.

Circular Economy

Pieces of Venice is a social enterprise with a circular economy model and a short supply chain. We begin with the recovery and recycling of discarded materials from Venice, and through industrial design, we give them new life as souvenirs and practical items.

Alberto Toso Fei narrates...

“If the gondola remains the undisputed queen of Venetian waters, this particular motorboat has emerged as the prince of the canals, even in the imagination: It’s easy to associate it with the great stars, in town for the Venice Film Festival. The water taxi is an immortal glamour icon: seeing one glide along the Grand Canal, it is easy to bring to mind the images of great movie stars, radiant and smiling, or a young Paul Newman leaning pensively against the helm.

Its origins are entirely Venetian, spurred—as often happened in the past—by a technological advance born of military needs: the MAS, the powerful speedboats used for quick raids during World War I, were designed in the city’s shipyards by engineer Attilio Bisio just months after the war began and later refined for Venetian waters as passenger vessels.

In keeping with this legacy of shipbuilding using mahogany wood, highly regarded by Venetian builders, taxis crafted with this elegant technique are still greatly appreciated in Venice today”.
