In the early 60s, after eating his ice cream, Luciano would reuse the stick to create a propeller with the help of a piece of wire and two tarballs.
His first self-made creation!
He says about it: “Even today, I am fascinated by this simple object, and I wanted to propose one made with much love for wood, industrial design, recycling, technology, and… for Venice.”
Material: Larch from the pier and oak from the briccola
Luciano Marson racconta…
“Today, I am part of the ‘Children Again.’ When, several decades ago, I was a ‘Child,’ we didn’t go to summer camps or language stages, but we went to the seaside or mountain colonies, period! I tell this story to explain when, as a child in the early 60s, after eating the ice cream called “Pinguino”, which was just a covered ice lolly, I used the stick to create a propeller. Besides the stick, I would get a piece of wire from the fence, which I used both to drill the wood and to support the propeller.
Two tar balls scraped from the sidewalk joints completed my first self-made creation—one blocked the front and the other the rear of the axle.”

Dorsoduro 2
We recommend trying the propeller in one of the breeziest and often windiest spots in Venice, the tip of Punta Dogana.
