The “trick track” or raganella is part of Italy’s wooden traditions and is, in fact, a musical instrument, specifically an idiophone, untuned.
This playful object recalls the little creature that cheers up spring evenings with its song and has been reinvented by Lorenzo, a designer and musician, to produce a much softer sound than the loud noise that once accompanied the Good Friday Procession.
Material: Oak wood. Sound mechanism in harmonic steel.
Lorenzo Palmeri
Lorenzo, who was asked to reinterpret this object, did not stop at the design but also reinvented the sound production mechanism, achieving a much softer result than the classic models.
Not by chance did we turn to a designer who is also a musician and who says, “These objects made of briccola wood preserve and enhance the primitive gesture and seek a new sound, less invasive, aiming to define a new standard”.

Sant’Erasmo
In Venetian dialect, the Raganella is called “Racoeta” and is the delightful little creature that entertains the spring evenings with its song.
We recommend visiting the island of Sant’Erasmo, where the delicious vegetables you find in the city’s markets and restaurants are grown—the vegetable garden of Venice, which in the spring, after sunset, hosts spectacular raganella concerts!
