A miniature of the classic Gondolier Hat made from reclaimed wood from the disused Venetian briccole, with the slogan Hang me/Light me.
Thanks to a micro magnet, it can be hung on all ferrous surfaces. When turned upside down, it serves as a pleasant holder for the included Tealight candle.

With this object, we bring you to the foot of the Rialto Bridge, where, at number San Polo 16/17, you’ll find Emilio Ceccato’s Historic Workshop, which exclusively produces the official clothing of the Gondoliers Association of Venice.
Alvise Ceccato told us that the spread of the gondoliers’ original headgear followed the 1958 film Venice, the Moon and You, in which Alberto Sordi played a playful gondolier about to marry…

“There is no gondola without its gondolier. The most typical of Venetian vessels would be an inert object if it were not for its skilled rower, who, with a single oar and rowing on one side, can glide its eleven meters in great harmony through the narrow Venetian canals.
So much so that the gondolier and his boat have become one, that in the 1800s, gondolas were designed to be tilted to one side so that the weight of the rower could balance them and therefore make them easier to steer.
Naturally, over the centuries, gondoliers have had uniforms to wear: clothes that made them recognizable or that carried the colors of the family for which they worked; work jackets suitable for the seasons or ceremonial liveries.
The original headgear of the gondoliers mirrors the fate of the Greek national dance, the Sirtaki, which was actually invented for the film Zorba the Greek, with Anthony Quinn, in 1946. Well, in 1958, Venice, the Moon and You was filmed in the lagoon, directed by Dino Risi, with Alberto Sordi playing a gondolier… wearing that hat. The same one that, in the following years, real gondoliers began to wear”.
