Dedicated to the Guggenheim Museum in the district of Dorsoduro, it is crafted from briccola wood (the poles we see immersed in the lagoon) and is a small kaleidoscope, unique among the others for fitting in one’s hand or pocket.
This item is part of the Companion Objects project, featuring 4 Sounds and 3 Visions dedicated to Venice’s six districts and the island of Giudecca.
Inside are Murano glass murrine, beautiful, precious artifacts of an art facing extinction.
Material: Briccola oak wood
Mariapia Bellis
Mariapia thought of companion objects, 4 Sounds and 3 Visions, hidden in a pocket or hand, one for each district of Venice.
“A companion object that sounds, discreetly, that can be caressed like an amulet, that can be taken out like a binocular not to focus on distant details, but to multiply and distort the views of the city, or invent new ones. The memory of a city to take to other cities and with which to walk other streets…”
In this city of words, noises, uproars, and rare silences, of wonderful, secret, and unexpected visions, you can discover and understand the districts of Venice and the 7 places that inspired Mariapia when she lived in Venice, immersed in the sun or fog.

Products with Stories
These objects also serve as a bridge between past and future generations, telling a story of Venetian culture, tradition, and excellence.
Circular Economy
Pieces of Venice is a social enterprise with a circular economy model and a short supply chain. We begin with the recovery and recycling of discarded materials from Venice, and through industrial design, we give them new life as souvenirs and practical items.
