Grand debut of Pieces of Venice

Pieces of Venice is the result of an agreement between Luciano Marson and Luca Cerchier who asked Karin Friebel to join them and physically manifest their love for Venice, for materials, for beauty, and for social responsibility, in a company.
Across the Venetian territory, Pieces of Venice salvages recyclable materials from Venice and its lagoon and makes them available to a broad public both in their natural state and transformed.
Pieces of Venice presents its own collection of design objects created for two different facets of society: children and those who are ‘young at heart’. So, the collection will include swings and rocking horses along with walking sticks and long-handled shoehorns that are easy on our grandparents’ backs.
Another selection of products by Pieces of Venice will serve a strong social function in reconstructing the integration and cultural exchange between these two age-ranges so distant from each other. So, in a modern style, we will rebuild an entire series of historic products and games aimed at transmitting, in an almost hereditary form, the customs and traditions of the elder who carries the young beneficiary.
The public can also purchase a simple board from a bridge rather than a piece of the same transformed into a paperweight or the seat of a swing. Pieces of Venice offers a whole series of interventions – including cutting, drilling, sanding, and applying a protective coating of vegetable oil. In this way, the materials can be processed to individual specifications on the basis of a clear and precise cost estimate for both the raw materials and any subsequent processing.
The materials used by Pieces of Venice communicate a profound sense of belonging to their place of origin. They still hold within them a living memory and the fragrances of the lagoon and the city of Venice. Pieces of Venice utilizes ship’s chains, the piers, and boardwalks of the city of Venice, anchors and old canal signal posts from the Venetian Lagoon, in order to give them a new life and purpose in their original form or in compositions or transformations.
